Words And Paintery March Challenge

Today I am playing along with the March challenge

This is the challenge board-

And here is my layout-

My background paper is from Crate Paper 'Journey'.
I love how a black and white pattern as a base
can emphasise any colour scheme.

I firstly used a layer of gesso, then layers of sprays,
gelatos, and distress inks to create my background.

My title is a Heidi Swapp 4x4 card. This is a photo
of me getting ready for my wedding,
and it certainly was the perfect day.

I've embellished with doilies, torn paper layers, a chipboard flourish (painted pink), and lots of flowers. I've also used a Charm's Creations 'Terrific Tab', and enamel dots.

I scrap masculine pages the majority of the time, so it was nice to do a 'girly' layout of myself for a change!

Kaisercraft March Challenge

Happy Easter!

Easter to means means lots of family time, and some scrapping of course!

This weekend I am playing along with this month's sketch challenge at Kaisercraft-

Here is my layout. I have used papers and stickers from the 'Coastal Escape' range, plus the 'Sandy Toes' paper pad and Collectables. The collections just work so well together.

I flipped the sketch to better suit my photo.

I really love all the pieces in the Collectables packs and the sticker sheets - they are perfect for layering. I inked around the big shell sticker for some definition, and the only other thing I added was a Memory Box circle stencil with a Sharpie and the layout is done!

More Than Words March Challenge

The challenge at More Than Words this month is-

the word: BLISS plus the technique of: GESSO

I was inspired to make a canvas for this month's challenge-

I firstly stuck my photo straight on to the canvas while I was putting down my first gesso layer. It looks like it was printed straight onto the canvas. I also spread gesso along the edges of the photo to give the picture a seamless and 'aged' look.

I added some modelling paste through a circle stencil, then coloured the canvas around the photo with Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays, and ink in various shades of blue.

I have embellished using real shells, which represents the beachcombing in the photo. I coated them in clear gesso, then a smudge of white gesso for more of an 'aged'  look. I love making canvasses because I do like to use quite bulky 3-dimensional embellishments.

The 'bliss' quote is from a Studio Calico Project Life card. The arrow stickers are from My Mind's Eye.

My 'HELLO' and 'Summer' wood veneer words are from Corbett Creations. The anchor chipboard piece is from 2Crafty, and the fishing net chipboard is from Dusty Attic ( I embossed this white). I've also used flair and woodies from Cocoa Vanilla Studios. I've finished off with some various enamel dots, beads, and some twine to keep to the nautical theme.

Kraft + March Challenge

The challenge this month at Kraft + is an amazing sketch by Em Stafrace - plus the use of houndstooth pattern.

And here is what I came up with-

I rotated the sketch 180 degrees.

I was so lucky to find in my stash a piece of kraft coloured houndstooth! I'm pretty sure it is Simple Stories.

My embellishment cluster consists of an X and O from Charm's Creations, some resin flowers from Resin Rainbow, and a Maggie Holmes wood veneer ampersand. I painted the tag slightly brighter than the mint paper to stand out a bit more.

My title 'Little Moments' is just perfect for this precious moment.

Scrapbooking Top 50 Australia March challenge - DT share

It's Mid Month DT Reveal over at
and today I am sharing my DT layout
for the  March challenge.

The challenge this month is a word challenge
- use the word 'SWEET' somewhere on your page.

And here is my layout-

I just love wood grain patterned paper, and the one I have used here is Chickaniddy - Yippee Collection ' Picnic Party'.
This Amy Tan ' sweet' rubber word makes the best title!

My embellishments are Crate Paper 'Journey' ephemera,
with a Studio Calico donut in there for more 'sweetness'!

I have also added some paper from Pink Paislee 'Cedar Lane',
and also some burlap to keep to the outdoorsy theme.

I hope you can play along with this challenge!

'Nature Is Beautiful' layout

I was inspired by two mood board challenges for this layout.

The first is from Scrapbook Boutique-

My biggest inspiration was the images of the birds nests. I had the perfect photo that I have been meaning to scrap for ages. I also used the neutral colour palette with a hint of green.

And I am also playing along with the Dusty Attic March Mood Board-

I was inspired by the burlap, the wood grain,  and the neutral palette with a hint of pink.

And here is my layout-

I used a Dusty Attic cross stencil with some modelling paste that I coloured with a green gelato.
I have also used some Dusty Attic honeycomb chipboard and circle frame chipboard. I inked all the pieces in brown.

I added some twine under the circle frame chipboard to make a 'nest' shape, along with an assortment of patterned paper strips, doilies and burlap- just like a real birds nest is a mixture of many different fibres and textures.

To keep my 'nest' as a feature in itself,  I kept the extra embellishments to a minimum.

I don't get to scrap with pink very often, and this was a chance for me to finally use this little Maggie Holmes resin bird and chipboard bow.

I wrote some hidden journaling on a pull-out tag.

CSI: Color Stories Inspiration Major Case File #193

Today I am playing along with this month's Major Case File #193 over at CSI: Color Stories Inspiration.

Here is the Case File:

And here is how I solved the case:

The Scheme: I used all the colours

Evidence: I used checks, frames, leaves, something transparent (acetate leaves), and labels.

Testimony: I took inspiration from one of the 365 Questions prompt questions -  "Who was the last person you said 'I Love You' to?" Well naturally that person was my son, I never miss the chance to tell him I love him.

Now let's have a closer look at the layout....

To make my background I mixed up some modelling paste, acrylic paint and some mist to match up the blue in the case file palette. I applied it through a check stencil, then scraped some around the edges of the page. I stuck down some paper strips and washi in different colours of the colour scheme. My papers are Simple Stories, Kaisercraft and some other scraps.

My title chipboard piece 'love you' is from WOW Creations. I painted it then inked the edges. I've also painted some star chipboard shapes in black.

My embellies are Cocoa Vanilla Studio ephemera, flair, woodies and enamel shapes. I've also used Burdie's Embellies foam cogs and a book page chipboard heart.

This layout just makes me smile - I don't know if its the dramatic layout or that face!!!! I think its a good match!

Creative Embellishments March challenge

I recently discovered that Creative Embellishments have a monthly challenge, so I thought I would play along this month.

The inspiration image looks like this

And here is my layout-

I took my inspiration from the triangular roof tops in the picture. I also picked out some polka dot patterns and colours from the inspiration picture. When the challenge was to show why I am lucky, I immediately had to scrap a photo of being with my kids.

My background is layers of gesso, gelatos, then Heidi Swapp colour shine and modelling paste through stencils. I have used a piece of Teresa Collins paper as my base.

I used a pack of Creative Embellishments triangles chipboard, which I inked in black for impact. I deliberately misaligned my patterned paper under the chipboard triangles for a more playful feel.

My title ' grateful' is a piece from the Pink Paislee 'Cedar Lane' collection. I think it definitely fits in to the 'lucky' theme of the challenge.

I finished of with a Heidi Swapp stamp, and some Doodlebug sprinkles.

Scrap The Boys March Challenge - DT share

Today I am sharing my DT layout for the Scrap The Boys March Challenge. These are such awesome 'boy' colours that work so well together.

Here is the challenge board-

Here is my layout-

I have kept all my embellishments to one main cluster. They include a Charm's Creations heart, Kaisercraft brad, Birdy's Embellies book page chipboard star, Flutterby Designs flair and tab, a 'Journal-It' from D'Lish Scraps, and enamel shapes from Cocoa Vanilla Studio.

The chipboard word 'dream' in my title is from 2Crafty. I coloured it with acrylic paint then inked around the edges for definition.

For the netting aspect of the mood board I have used an onion bag for some texture. I have framed my photo with some paper-covered wire and a 'negative' chipboard piece which I painted with orange acrylic paint.

I hope you can get a chance to play along with this month's challenge!
